- Multi-Faceted Tracking: Beyond simple mentions, it includes modules for tracking brand mentions on social platforms like YouTube and Reddit, and monitoring branded search demand.
It’s an impressive feature set, but as any contractor will tell you, having the biggest, most expensive multi-tool isn’t helpful if you only need a hammer and a screwdriver.
Ahrefs Brand Radar positions itself as a comprehensive research database with a massive prompt library and multi-platform tracking.
My Experience with Ahrefs Brand Radar
I went into my trial of Brand Radar with high hopes. I’m already an Ahrefs user for core SEO tasks. The convenience was appealing. However, the reality of using it for my client base (mostly plumbers, electricians, and local law firms) quickly exposed its limitations.
The Strengths: Where Ahrefs Shines (for the Right User)
Let’s give credit where it’s due. For a Fortune 500 company or a massive enterprise brand, Brand Radar offers strategic value that’s hard to ignore.
- Unmatched Data Scale: The 190M+ prompt database is the largest on the market. For a national brand trying to understand broad market perception and category conversations, this is a powerful research tool.
- Seamless Integration: If your team lives and breathes Ahrefs, the workflow is undeniably smooth. Seeing AI mentions next to your Domain Rating and backlink profile provides a holistic view of your digital presence.
- Comprehensive Web & Social Scanning: The ability to scan for unlinked brand mentions across billions of web pages, forums, and even YouTube video transcripts is impressive for reputation management at scale.
If I were an in-house marketer at Coca-Cola, I’d probably love it. But I’m not. I’m running a lean agency where every dollar spent on software has to translate directly into scalable, profitable services for my clients.
The Weaknesses: Why It’s Not a Fit for My Agency
This is where the rubber fails to meet the road for me and, I suspect, for thousands of other agency owners and SMBs.
The High Price Tag
This was the first and most glaring dealbreaker. Ahrefs’ pricing for Brand Radar is, to put it bluntly, out of touch with the agency market. My experience was similar to the one detailed EWR Digital’s comprehensive 2026 AEO tools comparison, the cost structure is punishing:

Feature Mismatch for Local SEO

However, for the majority of the SEO world (marketing agencies, consultants, and small to medium-sized businesses) it is an overpriced and ill-fitting solution. The lack of agency features, poor local targeting, and punishing price point make it a non-starter.
It’s a classic case of a company building a tool for the 1% of the market, while tools like Cairrot are building for the other 99%. If you’re an agency owner like me, focused on delivering profitable, scalable AEO services for local or niche businesses, my advice is to save your money. Your budget is far better spent on a tool that’s actually built for you.
