Here\u2019s why:<\/p>\n<p>Unrealistic, because campaigns like the one above-market extremely visually appealing products and have come up with what seems a once-in-a-lifetime idea. There\u2019s also typically a larger budget behind them than most companies would have.<\/p>\n<p>Pointless, because these campaigns happened as a result of the tone of voice, messaging strategy, past experiences, product positioning, and other details\u00a0<b>of those specific companies.\u00a0<\/b>You can\u2019t, nor you should replicate that\u2014your products and services are unique in their own way.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, for content marketing to be a sustainable practice that creates a return on investment, it\u2019s valuable to consider the library versus publication\u00a0approach to it.<\/p>\n<p>The point of the library approach to content marketing is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Vertical integration: each topic is addressed from the top of the funnel to the bottom<\/li>\n<li>Evergreen content is in the center because content production is slower<\/li>\n<li>Content is built for people who need it when they need it<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Library approach means that your blog becomes an evergreen catalog of easy-to-access information sorted by key topics and categories.<\/p>\n<p>With the publication approach, you have a feed of loosely related posts, none of which are developed in-depth. They\u2019re sorted chronologically instead of by category, which means it\u2019s harder for readers to become hooked on a category that they need solutions in.<\/p>\n<p>Below, you\u2019ll find some of my favorite examples of content marketing from both B2B and B2C side of the business. While you can\u2019t (and shouldn\u2019t) copy these examples, they\u2019re the perfect range of inspiring examples of what content marketing can be for you.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"B2B_Content_Marketing_Examples\"><\/span><strong>B2B Content Marketing Examples<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Example_1_ClassPass\"><\/span><strong>Example #1: ClassPass<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>ClassPass\u00a0is a fitness subscription service.<\/p>\n<p>Its key offering is a weekly or monthly subscription that gets its users into classes such as yoga, strength training, pilates, and more, across multiple studios and health clubs in available cities.<\/p>\n<p>However, I wanted to put the B2B side of their business in the spotlight here.<\/p>\n<p>To be able to provide such a service to the end consumer, they partner up with gyms and fitness studios. ClassPass could have gone the expected route and create content that regurgitates a basic topic such as \u201c5 steps to running a successful gym\u201d until they\u2019re blue in the face.<\/p>\n<p>But they have gone deep into the trenches and created a true library that any gym owner, whether a ClassPass member or not, can greatly benefit from.<\/p>\n<p>From\u00a0negotiating the best lease for a fitness studio\u00a0through to\u00a0predictions for the fitness industry, they really do cover it all.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Example_2_InVision\"><\/span><strong>Example #2: InVision<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>InVision\u00a0is a digital product design platform.<\/p>\n<p>It enables designers to create prototypes, communicate easily, gather feedback, and hand projects off into development.<\/p>\n<p>Their blog,\u00a0Inside Design, is a well-categorized resource for designers with millions of subscribers:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-65440 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stateofdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/image5-800x434.png\" sizes=\"(max-width: 747px) 100vw, 747px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stateofdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/image5-800x434.png 800w, https:\/\/www.stateofdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/image5-150x81.png 150w, https:\/\/www.stateofdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/image5-400x217.png 400w, https:\/\/www.stateofdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/image5-768x416.png 768w, https:\/\/www.stateofdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/image5-640x347.png 640w, https:\/\/www.stateofdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/image5.png 1000w\" alt=\"InVision blog\" width=\"747\" height=\"405\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s the kicker: the best thing about InVision\u2019s blog is that the majority of its post is written by its readers.<\/p>\n<p>Kristin Hiller, InVision\u2019s senior manager of brand and content, shared some details about it\u00a0in an interview with Managing Editor. Here\u2019s a snippet of that interview:<\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cWhen I first started, I\u2019d email InVision users to introduce myself and ask if they\u2019d be interested in sharing something on the blog. Every single person said yes.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>I also spent time every day reading Medium and other design blogs, and I\u2019d contact writers whose work impressed me to see if they\u2019d be willing to either let us publish their post or write something completely new, or both. And they always said yes, too.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>It took about two years, but eventually, we started getting people writing to us asking how they could contribute.
