They recognized how consumer behavior was changing in the online world.<\/p>\n<p>The Zero Moment of Truth references the point in a buying cycle when the user is researching a product.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s the moment between the stimulus that makes you aware of a product (like an advert) and the First Moment of Truth (coined by AG Lafley) \u2013 the moment the user interacts with a brand just before making the purchasing decision.<\/p>\n<p>In 2019, you need to make sure that your business and website are in front of the users at the time that they are researching the products you sell. Your brand needs to be at the forefront of their minds when they are ready to press the \u201cBuy Now\u201d or \u201cAdd to Cart\u201d button.<\/p>\n<p>But how do you go about finding out what kind of content you need to produce to appear at the different stages of the buying cycle?<\/p>\n<p>This is where search intent comes in.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_is_the_search_intent_for_SEO\"><\/span>What is the <a href=\"https:\/\/omaha-seo.com\/\">search intent<\/a> for SEO?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>First coined by Andrei Broder back in 2002 [pdf] (interestingly an Altavista employee and not a Google one), search intent is crucial for a successful SEO campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Andrei says search intent can be broken down into three distinct types:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Informational Searches<\/li>\n<li>Transactional Searches<\/li>\n<li>Navigational Searches<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So how does that work for SEO?<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s say we are doing SEO for a fictional e-commerce store that sells appliances. We can use this to show how the three different types of search intent work.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Informational_searches\"><\/span>Informational searches<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>These are the searches conducted that are generic.<\/p>\n<p>They are likely to be done by people who want to learn about a particular subject and are not expected to convert yet<\/p>\n<p>In our appliance website example, these queries might be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cHow do you clean ovens?\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cHow do I clean my oven naturally?\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cFridge freezer sizes\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>With Google showing more and more \u201cPeople Also Ask\u201d queries in the SERPs, it is easy to identify and capitalize on these keywords or phrases.<\/p>\n<p>Although the likelihood for conversion at this point in the searcher\u2019s journey is minimal, these are queries that you want to be ranking for.<\/p>\n<p>Having this sort of content on your website gives you the opportunity to put your brand or site in front of the users at the start of their journey.<\/p>\n<p>When you consistently rank for these types of queries, you are placing yourself where your competitors are not.<\/p>\n<p>With Google showing more featured snippets and other SERP features, you can increase your organic footprint while also serving your potential customers&#8217; needs.<\/p>\n<p>I strongly recommend reading how to optimize for featured snippets and \u201cPeople Also Ask\u201d in Google.<\/p>\n<p>Nothing is guaranteed but I have found that the more content you optimize for these, the higher chance you have of getting those coveted spots in the SERPs.<\/p>\n<table style=\"border-collapse: collapse; width: 100%;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\">\n<table style=\"border-collapse: collapse; width: 100%; height: 144px;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr style=\"height: 109px;\">\n<td style=\"width: 990.8px; height: 109px;\">\n<h3 class=\"et_pb_module_header\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Get_your_website_unstuck_now_How_Click_the_Omaha_SEO_link_below\"><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18pt; color: #3366ff;\">Get your website unstuck now! These are going to be related to the categories or products on your website.<\/p>\n<p>If I return to my appliance website example, you might find queries that look like this:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cBuy washing machine\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cBest stove for under $1000\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201c[insert brand] coffee machines\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cBuy [insert product code here] online\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Transactional searches are going to be essential for our fictional appliance website.<\/p>\n<p>They should also take precedence over the informational searches when you first start to optimize your site.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Navigational_searches\"><\/span>Navigational searches<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Navigational searches are the easiest to understand and require little in the way of optimization.<\/p>\n<p>These searches are when the user has a destination in mind (usually a well-known brand or website), and there is only one search term that they are likely to require.<\/p>\n<p>Your website.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_does_search_intent_relate_to_Google\"><\/span>How does search intent relate to Google?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Google has been tackling intent and how to serve up the best results for some time now.<\/p>\n<p>The quality rater guidelines [pdf] show us how they define the three types of searches.<\/p>\n<p>They call them:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cKnow\u201d \u2013 informational searches<\/li>\n<li>\u201cDo\u201d \u2013 transactional searches<\/li>\n<li>\u201cGo\u201d \u2013 navigational searches<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Google has eloquently taken Andrei Broder\u2019s concept and broken it down into three simple words.<\/p>\n<p>By using \u201cknow,\u201d \u201cdo\u201d and \u201cgo\u201d as part of your research, you can bucket keywords by intent.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Making_know_do_and_go_actionable\"><\/span>Making know, do and go actionable<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Knowing how \u201cknow,\u201d \u201cdo\u201d and \u201cgo\u201d searches work is all well and good but you need to be able to put this into action.<\/p>\n<p>A few years back, I would have been bucketing the keywords by hand.
